Changing your perspective, 1.

Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6.

As you were growing up, you were learning consciously and unconsciously. The things you saw, heard and felt gave you a thinking pattern which eventually formed your attitude. Over time, this repetition of thoughts, feelings and actions fashioned your believe and perspective. As you get older, you started realizing that you react in a certain way to certain issues. People around you are already aware of how you will respond to a question, what triggers you, what excites you and what suppresses you. Then you probably started associating with other people from different environments and you felt there may be better ways to respond to issues. You started questioning certain thoughts and behaviors that you were used to; you started changing the way you look at things. This paradigm shift in thinking is all you need on your quest for change.

“Small shifts in your thinking, and small changes in your energy, can lead to massive alterations of your end result.”
― Kevin Michel

Changes begin to occur when you consciously change certain thoughts:

  • You are worth more than you ever imagined: being in an environment where you are trivialized will definitely normalize self doubt in you. You can never think of yourself being more than you are used to. You will never look beyond your present circumstances. You will never imagine yourself being capable of more. Most times, we depend on others to tell us what we are capable of; and we don’t sometimes believe when they tell us things beyond our imaginations. If you do not have a dime, it is easier to believe you can make a thousand, than it is to believe you can make a million. If you a the son of a carpenter, it is easier to believe you will be a successful business man, than it is to believe you will be a governor.

“Similar to a butterfly, I've gone through a metamorphosis, been released from my dark cocoon, embraced my wings, and soared!”
― Dana Arcuri

  • You can be excellent: being mediocre is normal. It takes an excellent spirit to live above mediocrity. The things you wanted in the past all look little right now because your usual way of thinking is being replaced. You still need to make more changes. The only limitation in your life is you. Start looking at new possibilities and do not allow the old thinking pattern which has become a little demon in your mind tell you otherwise.

“Explore, Experience, Then Push Beyond.”
― Aaron Lauritsen

  • It is possible: everything is possible, if you believe. Being positive is all about believing in possibilities. When you look for reasons to be grateful, you see opportunities instead of difficulties. Start believing right now. Your life can be perfect. You can be who you want to be. You have all it takes; you are beautiful, you are creative, you are smart, you are skillful, you are resourceful. You are a spiritual being.
“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” –Henry Ford
  •  Believe in God: the truth is, we all need something bigger than ourselves to believe in. We are spiritual beings but we have a body which is our major source of limitation. Your flesh and your heart will fail you so let God be the source of your strength.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
