What can you do about your worries?

If you ever find yourself worrying so much that you can't sleep, just remember that worry wouldn't get you anywhere. Take the following steps instead;
  1. Analyze the situation honestly and figure out the worst that could possibly happen.
  2. After figuring out the worst that could possibly happen, accept it, if necessary.
  3. Devote your time and energy improving upon the worst which you have already accepted.
Worry destroys our ability to concentrate. When we worry, our minds jump here and there and everywhere, and we lose all power of decision. However, when we force ourselves to face the worst and accept it mentally, we then eliminate all the vague imaginings and put ourselves in a position in which we are able to concentrate on our problem. True peace comes from accepting the worst, we have nothing more to lose and that means we have everything to gain.
Confusion is the chief cause of worry
The first step to dealing with worries is getting the facts. If you don't get the facts, you can't attempt to solve your problems intelligently. Worries usually evaporate in the light of knowledge. Do not attempt to solve your problems without first collecting all the facts in an impartial manner.
The second step is analyzing the facts. It is much easier to analyze the facts after writing them down. A problem well stated is a problem half solved, says Charles Kettering.
The third step is arriving at a decision and then acting on that decision. It is the failure to arrive at a fixed purpose, the inability to stop going round and round in maddening circles that drives men to nervous breakdown and living hell.

Unless we do something about the decision we arrived at, all our fact finding and analysis is sheer waste of energy. Do the following:
  1. Write down what you are worrying about
  2. Write down what you can do about it
  3. Write down what you will do about it
  4. Write down when you will start doing it
