Do you know it's okay and scriptural to be unbothered?

When we spend time with the Holy Spirit, He will begin to show us things that we do not know they existed. There are things we haven’t realized even though we hear them every time, but it hasn’t become a personal word to us. The moment we get messages that are meant for us; our whole being feels it, and assimilates it deeply. Here are three things that you may not know the scripture teaches:

1.   It is okay to be unbothered: life will always throw us things to worry about. You can’t help but bother when things are not going the way you planned, but  the realization that worrying cannot change anything and that God is asking you to stop and consider the lilies of the field and the birds of the air is like medicine to the mind.

Matthew 6:26

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

2   2.   Your importance is rooted in Christ: we all want to be something special, we all want to be loved, and we all want to be confident. But seeking to build your confidence with things like money, fame and achievements is vain. We are the beloved of God. He is mindful of us to the point that He knows the number of hair on our head. God’s love for us is everlasting.

Romans 8:38-39

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:6-8

For while we were still weak, at the right time; Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person – though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die – but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 13:6

So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

3    3.   You don’t have to defend yourself: imagine how peaceful your life will be if you can be silent in the face of criticism.

Mark 14:61

But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?"
