People will always be part of your life; the ability to communicate and relate with people effectively is a skill you must have. Everyone you meet in life is a prospect and your job is to add to your list of prospects daily. The aim of prospecting is to create awareness and increase interest in your products or services. The more your prospects, the more your chances of having more paying customers, and the more your chances of succeeding in what you do. Having a profitable network will reduce fretting and enhance peace. Below is how you can add to your network: 

Identify places, opportunities and situations where you can find potential customers and make it a point of duty to get one prospect every day. Before you start prospecting, you need to answer the following questions: 

1. Who is your ideal customer? 

2. Where can you find your ideal customer? 

3. How can you reach your ideal customer? 

4. What solution does your ideal customer need? 

While prospecting focus on giving information and not on making sales; you must build a relationship with your client first before you introduce sales. You must leave a lasting impression for your client to find it difficult to forget you. Do what you can to make it easy for your client to remember you. Things you can do to leave a lasting impression: 

1. Be completely honest: Integrity is one endearing quality that people take for granted. A lot of people lie thinking it is an advantage without knowing the person they are lying to has discovered their dishonesty. Even if your lie isn’t found out immediately, it will still be discovered on the long run and trust will be lost completely. 

2. Be friendly: When you are friendly with people, you make them feel important and everyone wants to feel important. People will pay more attention to you when you make them feel important. Smile, give genuine compliments and remember to use their names correctly. 

3. Listen: Everyone wants to be listened to but no one gives time to listening to others. Learn how to listen to others with your entire attention and without interruption. This habit will leave a lasting impression and make you unforgettable. 

4. Add value: Ask how you can be of help to them, discover how your products or services will add value to their life or business. The greatest way to influence others and make them remember you for long is by being of help to them.
