Boost your sales confidence; what do you sell

This is for anyone who has something to offer in exchange for money. Have you ever been in a situation where you do something casually and another person starts that same thing and blows it out of proportion? The difference between you and the other person is a word called, 'CONFIDENCE.' You design beautiful clothes and sell them casually; another person designs a cloth that is not as beautiful as yours and calls it 'DESIGNER CLOTHING.'

You need to understand how to make yourself stand out because nobody sees a light that is hidden. You are full of potentials but until you blow your trumpet, nobody is going to recognize your potentials. As a sales person, one thing you need to succeed in your career is confidence. I will be sharing series of topics concerning boosting your confidence. Today is about knowing your product:

WHAT DO YOU SELL?

You can’t explain what you don’t understand. As a sales person, your job is to let others see how what you have to offer will make their lives better. You need an in depth knowledge of your products and service; the functions, properties, competitive advantage, price, target market, and all there is to know not just about your products but, about your industry. Before you start selling, give time to learning. Learn about the products you want to sell. I remember the first time I joined a beauty company as an independent sales representative, the venue for training was far from my location so I couldn’t go for training. When someone requested for a product, I quickly ordered without knowing the colour shade has a different naming system. The colour didn’t match with the skin colour of the customer. In fact, the shade wouldn’t fit anyone in my country. That was how I ended up losing money instead of making money. This would have been avoidable if I had learned about the products thoroughly before I started selling. Customers will ask you questions and you need to know the answers, so you can speak confidently. For Instance, they will ask:

1. What is the difference between the different versions of the same product? A product may have a variant and customers will need your help to understand what the various variants have to offer before they can make a buying decision. You will not be able to convince the customer to buy if you can’t explain properly.

2. How is your brand better than the brand they are conversant with? Except your product is the first of its kind in the market, your prospect is already familiar with a brand. You shouldn’t just insist your brand is the best, know in what ways your brand is better. What this means is that you will have to do some research to learn about the other brands too.

3. How long will your product last? Does your product come with a warranty? Find out to avoid saying you don’t know when you are asked.

4. What values does your product offer? Nobody wants to spend money on something that is not worth it. What is the advantage of buying from you? What benefits do you sell?

Answering the prospect's questions confidently gives them the assurance they need to make a buying decision. Your confidence is synonymous to your success. Kaycee
